Ok Gentlemen & any Ladies,

I have a chance at an old pre 64 model 70 and an old BSA Monarch.
Don't really need either, but  .... you know ... The urge is there.
I really want an old mauser action for a 257 Roberts build.

What would you go for ???

Probably the Winchester for me.
Just cuz I've never owned one.

Well,
Me too never had "a" winchester except for an old model 94,
'Course .... this site got me into Parker's and I'm hooked on them.
And I see a lot of noise on BSA's from a certain gentleman to go unnamed !!!!

I have owned a pre-64 Winchester and while I have nothing against them, I have no desire for another. That said, the BSA doesn't 'turn my crank' either. Maybe if I knew the chamberings it would sway me one way or the other, but without that info, and no monetary differential, it's a flip of the coin to me. The Winchester MIGHT hold/increase in value more than the BSA, but that's purely speculation on my part.

The Winchester Model 70.

Nothing else to choose from other than a Mauser 98 action.

My Winchester model 70  ( 7m mag ) is the best shooter I have. If you`re looking for a hunting rifle, ya can`t do much better .

Well, I guess it's a moot point !
Seems like I sat on my butt too long and missed both.
Bid low on the winchester (all I had - or was allowed !) and the BSA is gone.
Kinda' didn't like the bolt on the BSA - LIKED THE WINCHESTER !
See what opens up next.
Never know what may be coming up tomorrow.
Hey !
Have a good one !

Sorry you missed them, but when that happens to me, I chalk it up to GOOD fortune.
