Here is my new pup Bela(short for Cabelas). The dove opener was very poor. I only bagged three. It was the worst opener on record. The normal beautiful sunflower patches were all burned up and there were scant doves flying. But we had fun. Her training is going real good and she goes back to the trainer tomorrow to complete her PHD. Bela was one of 17 in the litter....all chocolates and of course I picked the best dog of them all!;) The birds shown are the sum total of 4 hunters basically hunting all day. Regards, Rick.

17 in the litter?  That is a HUGE batch o' pups!

I've seen a few dogs that wouldn't retrieve doves.
Supposedly something about the feather's taste, and the fact that they come off in the dog's mouth.

Bela looks happy about the whole thing though.

Rick, I love dove hunting almost as much as eating dove dumplings. Can't shoot worth a darn any more tho. My shooting eye is about gone. Nice looking puppy. Not sure about the guy with her tho.    ......Paul H
