I just got a TC Contender G2. It's going to end up a 22 bench toy, when the match barrel get's here. I do want more than one barrel.

A 223 would be excellent for target, varmint's, or deer in close.

I would consider a 44 mag for the same reason.

357 mag is another possibility, since I'm set up to reload 38/357.

I have considered a 22-250, but I wonder if that might be a bit much in recoil.

As you can see I don't have a lot of experience with Contenders. I owned a 44 mag Contender once, and I have yet to see a deer when I carry a handgun.

Thanks for looking.

Well Gene,
The G2 frames will accept nearly all contender barrels made before the G2 frames.
I would be cautious of those with solid locking bolts but they can up upgraded to split lugs easily enough.

Bellm sells em cheaper but out presently of stock
As for the 22-250, you'd be considering an Encore frame to accommodate those kinds of pressures.
But there's more than one way to skin a cat. Refer to Bellm's perspectives on the 222 Remington

Keep shooting
Hope to see more posts from you soon

When you start reloading, you may consider some of the more popular wildcat cartridges that have endeared shooters to the contender like the 7TCU

.... or the 357 Herrett
