VARMINT/PREDATOR / Old Coyote spots filling up!
November 26, 2006, 04:53:50 PM
I cant wait. Ive been scouting for deer and coyote while deer season is in progress.
Deer Season ends here in Michigan on the 30th of November and each day I've been seeing more and more coyotes , bobcat tracks—and one wolf (I saw him one evening, SMART!), but we have to leave him alone. I've never had a wolf come to the call anyway.
I havent hunted these coyote spots for a an entire year and boy did they fill up With big nice, prime coyotes.
I'm ready, my calls are ready, my gun is ready, my allergy medicine for coyotes is ready, my skinning knife is ready.
Oh boy!

I went for a walk 6-24 and found a fawn leg  and some goose feathers. Looks like another good predator season in Upper Michigan

VARMINT/PREDATOR / .17 Rimfire and Wolf
May 05, 2005, 06:47:32 PM
All this talk about .204s is getting monotonous.
My brother got this .17 and it's been working great!
see attachment

Thanks for getting rid of that Feral cat thing. That might have been Kerry, he said he had photos of himself hunting! LOL!

Also, I'm driving home from work tuesday and I see a huge doglike object crossing the highway. it's galloping across like a coyote except is got huge feet and long legs. luckiluy a member of the Hunters life was on hand.
I was one car back or I could have "drop checked" him.

VARMINT/PREDATOR / Alternative Call Question
November 27, 2004, 07:43:30 AM
Wow, the new site is very nice. I hope those bad people are rooted out and punished severely for what they did to Hunters Life.

Our deer season in Michigan is almost over. Coyote hunting has been closed for the firearm deer seson to protect the wolf population so they can chainsaw through our deer herd (their day will soon be here though).

We just ordered our new Foxpro last night and all the calls, guns and knives are cleaned and ready I'm finished deer hunting and just waiting.

Barring my son's hockey games, I will be out there heavily.

I do have a question though:
Have you all experienced in areas with higher  pressure an unwillingness by predators to respond to rabbit distress calls, and if so which distress calls have you used with success for predators?

I have heard about using a woodpecker distress but I am unsure how to accomplish it with a mouthcall.
Any other alternative calls?

I have been adding some coyote voalizations but have been saving them for this later season as  know a lot of the other people around here are just using rabbit in distress mouthcalls.

Thank you,
