This was an email by Uncle John about a year before he passed. He was a Southern Babtist preacher.

Having lived for 80 years and preached and studied for over 60 years I
recently discovered a scripture I never noticed before and which I have
 found very helpful.
Lamentations 3:22-23  "Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not (never end) They are new every morning:
 great is Your faithfulness."
Many mornings in the dark before dawn I am sitting out back with Buddy,
Old Mama Kitty and my coffee.  As the light begins to creep across the
landscape I think -- here come the Father's mercies and compassions for
today.  "new every morning".  And I feel refreshed and lifted.
And so: heres poem I have quoted many times.  (don't remember author)
"I met God in the morning when the day was at it's best.
His presence came like sunrise, like a glory in my breast,
All day long His presence lingered. all day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness oer a very troubled sea.
Other ships were blown and battered.  Other ships were sore distressed,
But the winds that seemed to drive them brought to us a peace and rest.
So I thought of other mornings, with a keen remorse of mind
When I too had left the harbor with the Presence left behind.
So I think I've learned the secret through many a troubled way,
You must meet God in the morning if you want Him through the day"
