Found another problem the weaver ring has stripped out threads so I guess I will buy a new set of rings I think I will put an old Redfield 3-9 on it. The wood appears to be oak not walnut I will have a better look when I get it stripped. But the wood grain is porus like oak. I am thinking zee rings maybe.

With a beast like that in a kill or be killed situation it's what ever is close in hand!

A friend has a coax I have never looked at it real close they sure have a reputation for loading accurate ammo. Another friends has his grand dad's Hollywood press that thing is built. I have like the look of ch champion presses as well never seen o e in person.

Quote from: recoil junky;147117I have a COAX (Bonanza now Forster) press so I hafta use COAX lock rings. I've heard the Hornadys are the same thickness?

RJ

I do believe that you are correct. I have some things lock rings cannot think of which bra d of dies they came off of at the moment. A coax press holds the die by the lock ring in a slot if I remember correctly that is why that is important correct?

Quote from: gitano;147112If there was one opinion that I would include in advice to a new reloader it would be:
Never, EVER, buy, borrow, or use a runout gauge for reloading.

Paul
I am not not sure how important it would be I have shot some real small groups with dies that show runout.

Quote from: Hunterbug;147110Farmboy, they are pretty proud of those dies, aren't they?

Oh yes I have never ponyed up to buy a new set. Rcbs benchrest dies are lots as well so are the Redding benchrest dies.

I got my low wall back from the gunsmith. He took the barrel off and cut and crowned it. I also bought a 700 Remington stock from him so I can get rid of the one Tupperware stock I have on a vtr.

I bought a runout guage and found that there was no runout on 223 loaded on bonanza (forester) benchrest dies very little when I used the hornaday seater dies and quite a bit with the rcbs dies. The sad part of that is most all of my dies are rcbs.
