Paul was talking about the 60' hole in the end of taps.
Here is a cute little third hand .
Easy to make, just need to make or purchase a small 60' male point, a small coil spring, pretty stiff, and a piece of round stock, keep it 1/2"  so as to fit the usual tail stock chuck.
It keeps a steady pressure on the tap while both hands can be doing something else.
I actually started with a piece of 3/4" so as to have room to drill the recess for the spring and point and then turned part of it down to 1/2".
