Hi Guys,

Sorry about my continuous posts but I am trying to catch up the time I have been away from the forum adapting to life in the country.

Here's a pic of the pups that our girl Evie had, no they are not hunting dogs but very lovable pooches. We kept the black one the others have already gone to their new homes. Sorry about the blurred photo. There's pics of the ones that sold at 8 weeks.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Word for Today 21-06-2022
June 20, 2022, 04:04:22 PM
https://vision.org.au/the-word-for-today/

‘This Word is at work in you believers.’ 1 Thessalonians 2:13 GWT

When you read God’s Word and believe it and act on it, it’s like seeds growing inside you. Those seeds have life! In the natural world, you don’t have to understand the process by which seeds grow; you just have to water, nurture, and protect them. And it’s the same with Scripture.

Paul writes, ‘You welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the Word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.’ (1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV) Note the phrase ‘effectively works in you.’ God’s Word is self-sustaining; it doesn’t require others to validate it.

In the New Testament account, when Jesus was walking on the water towards His disciples, Peter said, ‘Lord, if it’s You… tell me to come.’ (Matthew 14:28 NIV) Jesus gave him one word, ‘Come,’ (Matthew 14:29 NIV) and Peter started walking. The other disciples probably didn’t believe Peter could do it. That’s because they didn’t understand Who was speaking to Peter. ‘They thought [Jesus] was a ghost!’ (Mark 6:49 NIV)

There is a lesson here for us all. When God speaks to you through His Word, don’t expect everybody to understand, agree, or support you. It’s only human to want certain people to see what you see and believe in what you do. But in this Scripture, God prepares us for rejection by those who don’t understand what God has told us. If you’re not careful, people’s opinions can make you doubt what God has said. Sometimes He confirms what He told you through others, and sometimes He doesn’t. But as long as you feed on His Word and believe it, it ‘effectively works in you.’

RELOADING / 222 Rem Reloads
May 21, 2022, 10:19:22 PM
Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I have posted. I think I left Queensland and went back to Victoria and I am back in Queensland all that time I have been away, perhaps with some intermittent posts.

I have moved closer to an area near where I use to hunt red deer with my friend Paul Rattray, who Paul (Gitano) is acquainted with.

I have more time on my hands to mess around with my firearms as I have left a high stress job with a Caterpillar dealer which paid very well but was not helping my work/life balance or my hunting time. Now doing 32.5 hours a week with a trucking company that owns quarries wholesales fuel and owns a petrol station. I am really enjoying the role there.

Anyway I was going through my safe and pulled out my Winchester 70 in 222 Rem and I want to start reloading for it. I have read that the 222 barrels on the models had a 1-14 twist. I wanted to load for 35 grain Hornady V-Max but I am unsure whether my rifle would like these. It shoots the 50 grain pills well but I wanted to go a bit smaller.

Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with 35 grainers on a 222. Your feedback would be most appreciated. Any loads suggestions would also be much appreciated.

I am glad this forum is still alive and kicking.

Best Regards
Jorge

THE CAMPFIRE / Scary Weekend
September 11, 2018, 08:38:50 PM
Hi guys,

I hope you are all well.

Had an interesting weekend. I had a deviated septum operation  about a month ago. All was going well till Saturday morning around 2am. My nose started bleeding and my wife being a nurse was able to get it to stop after about an hour. So went back to sleep then woke up at 5am with blood flowing down my throat.  This time the bleeding didn't stop so Maya called the ambos and they shipped me off to the hospital emergency. By 9am they eventually got it to stop. Sent me home around 10am. Slept a few hours then sat down to watch the footy at around 5pm and the floodgates opened up again. I was on my Pat Malone (alone) so I had to call the ambos again while holding my nose and bleeding into the bathroom sink. They arrived quickly and off I went again.

This time they put these long thin balloons up the nostrils and pumped them up to stop the bleeding. They were so painful they decided to give me some morphine for the pain. With only 2.5mm of morphine my blood pressure dropped to 40 on 60 and I thought I was on my way to meet my maker as I felt the life drain from my body. I was praying hard telling Him it wasn't my time yet. The staff juiced me up with some fluids and I started to feel a bit better.

Ended up getting shipped to a hospital with an ENT specialist. I was released from hospital on Monday afternoon and I have to be off work for two weeks to recover. I lost over 1 litre of blood.  Glad to get through that. Missus won't let me do anything at home but rest a have cold showers, no hot drinks or hot food, no lifting and no magambo either. Can't have any pressure in my head.

So time for reading, sleeping and watching a bit of Netflix.

Prayers for full recovery are most welcomed.

Cheers Jorge.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Titus 1
September 05, 2018, 05:56:25 PM
Titus 1

1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, 3 and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

4 To Titus, my true son in our common faith:

Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

5 The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer manages God's household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8 Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete's own prophets has said it: "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons." 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / 1 Chronicles 17
June 17, 2018, 04:36:30 PM
1 After David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent."

2 Nathan replied to David, "Whatever you have in mind, do it, for God is with you."

3 But that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:

4 "Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the Lord says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in. 5 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another. 6 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their leaders whom I commanded to shepherd my people, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?"'

7 "Now then, tell my servant David, 'This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. 8 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men on earth. 9 And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning 10 and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies.

"'I declare to you that the Lord will build a house for you: 11 When your days are over and you go to be with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. 14 I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.'"

15 Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

16 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said:

"Who am I, Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 17 And as if this were not enough in your sight, my God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You, Lord God, have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men.

18 "What more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant, 19 Lord. For the sake of your servant and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made known all these great promises.

20 "There is no one like you, Lord, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. 21 And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth whose God went out to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt? 22 You made your people Israel your very own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God.

23 "And now, Lord, let the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house be established forever. Do as you promised, 24 so that it will be established and that your name will be great forever. Then people will say, 'The Lord Almighty, the God over Israel, is Israel's God!' And the house of your servant David will be established before you.

25 "You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you. 26 You, Lord, are God! You have promised these good things to your servant. 27 Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Lord, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever."

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / 1 Thessalonians 5
May 30, 2018, 10:57:07 PM
1 Thessalonians 5

1 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us. 26 Greet all God's people with a holy kiss. 27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

FIREARMS & OPTICS / New 22LR Rifle
May 02, 2018, 09:12:03 PM
Hi Guys,

Just bought a new 22LR rifle with my birthday money.

It is a Winchester Model 320 in near new condition. It has an Australian Sportco (Omark) made action which was stocked and barreled in the US. This rifle preceded the Oregon Kimber Model 82a 22LR rifle which had the same action.

From what I have read they are accurate shooters. We'll have to see.

Here is a pic.

Can't wait to pick it up.

Hi Guys,

Just wondering whether Trump will remove the regs that O'Bummer put in e.g. $300 permits to export firearms or parts any time soon.

I am looking at purchasing some Win 70 and Win 54 firearms and parts in the next 6 months but many of the sellers don't export overseas.

I was wondering if you guys know of any reliable authorised firearms exporters that assist in getting firearms purchases out of the country (legally of course).

There are some listed on Gunbroker.com but not sure if they are relaible and don't fleece you for every cent.

Some feedback would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Jorge
