This one never made a sound, just suddenly he was there. Used one of my wingbones and a scratch box. Shot was at about 12 yards.

Very cool!

PS - Did I ever ask you if you had any relatives in the Navy?

Paul

Reason I ask is that there was a Chief Blankenship 'around' when I was in. I know that the Blankenship name is not uncommon, but I thought you might be related.

What did you do?

Paul

CallMaker

No relation there. I was an Aircraft Electrician.

It looked like I was not going to take one, with all the rain we've had, tick's and not getting off from work to do any scouting, but I 'm happy, he was good.......Ron

Oh man Ron, we have had the rain here too. Still a gooey mess trying to get to the cabin, water still running everywhere. I managed to get there for this bird and that made me happy.

:food04: Nice bird! Well done!

What do you mean by "wingbones and a scratch box"? Is that how you call them?
"Belief:" faith in something taught, as opposed to "knowledge:" which is awareness borne of experience.

CallMaker

Hi Hornet,

Thanks on the bird.

That refers to the types of calls I used. "Wingbones" are just that, calls made with turkey wingbones. "Scratchboxes" are small box type calls that fit in a shirt pocket. You can see both types on our web site here www.gobblersend.com

Thanks,

22Hornet,Wingbone call's are made from turkeys you take, easy to make, and work well on turkeys, I did a post a few years back and how to make one...Ron

CallMaker

The fall hunt starts the end of September when archery deer season ends. I'll see if I can find a bird then, who know, maybe a bear will walk by.....
