Title: Hooray!
Post by: gitano on January 30, 2021, 11:36:08 AM
Had a species of bird at my feeders today that I haven't seen for maybe 18 years: pine grosbeaks (Pinicola enucleator)! They are one of my favorites! They have a very pretty song and they are very tame. One of, if not the, largest finches in North America. Great to see them again at my feeders! Made my day.

I have never seen a pine grosbeak. Only the annual migrating rose breasted grosbeaks. ......Something out of the ordinary going on here. The male resident mockingbird is getting extremely territorial and terrorizing ALL the other birds. He's over a month too early for that.  .......I saw two of the redheaded woodpeckers yesterday. They're about two months early. ......Paul H
