There's something faintly familiar about the characteristics and ballistics of this cartridge.

A fine cartridge with an excellent reputation on the largest of softskinned game.  It was basically made obsolete by the 338's and these days bullets in the 333 calibre are like hen's teeth.
 
Still, I would love to have one of these.

it could be matched in spirit if not in truth by a 338-06 or 35 whelen or such built on a 98, and twisted quick for long, heavy bullets. our forebears knew what they were doing with long, heavy-for-caliber bullets at 2,100-2,400 fps.
