THE CAMPFIRE / One of the prodicals
June 07, 2020, 05:08:16 PM
Been struggling  to get by on smart phone and kindle for a good while. Finally got the desktop and going again.
Should be on more regular now.
We bought a house in Oakland Ne. about 30 miles from granddaughter Emma. So we get to have her over often and go to her house at least 5 days out of 14.
Looking to get a side business up in the shooting/hunting/ supplies for black powder. Also maybe sale some survivalist stuff and how too. My old source for military how to manuals has dried up if anyone knows where you can pick up the print copies these days, internet is everywhere but in true survival mode there will not be a lot of on lining getting done.

THE CAMPFIRE / Update
February 22, 2019, 06:52:00 PM
Been absent for awhile. So wanted to let folks know I am still kicking. Moved from Texas to Nebraska, just north of Omaha. Winter has been interesting so far. Granddaughter is the reason for moving. Anybody close by? Would like some inside on how to get into hunting around here, fishing is covered pretty well.

Clean pics are off the net, nasty ones are the start of the process.

THE CAMPFIRE / Planning a move
December 04, 2017, 11:01:17 AM
Near June of 2018 wife and I plan on leaving the Houston area and moving north.

Will have important family around Denver Colorado and Omaha Nebraska. Anywhere that affords an 8 hour drive to either will be looked at closely. Favoritism is going to be closer to Omaha because of granddaughter.

I will have social security and a small retirement from from Teachers retirement of Texas (TRS), wife should have a better retirement from TRS. Both of us healthy and able/willing to work. Myself anything from janitorial, security, heavy mechanic, welding to international heavy shipping experience. Watching livestock is also good.

Ideas or offers sought and appreciated.

THE CAMPFIRE / Baby Emma
April 05, 2017, 06:19:04 PM
Been coming a long time but son Jeremy and Jesica have given Kim and I our first and most likely only grand-baby.

Emma Claire Botts got here on March 1, 2017; 3 months early. Came in at 2 Lbs 2 oz and dropped to 1 Lb 13 oz over the next 3-4 days. Then she turned the corner and started putting on weight. Currently at 2 Lbs 15 oz and staying hungry. Mostly just a matter of time till we get her home. In the short movie you will see the c=pap stuff they have on her, she has learned to shuck it pretty quick too. They are working to wean her off of it over the 1-2 weeks. Fore cast time for coming home is late May though weight gain can influence that.

Monday night Kim went up to the hospital (60 miles one way) and was surprised but happy to learn she could hold her for the first time. Thus the short movies here.

THE CAMPFIRE / Old guns and good times.
November 02, 2016, 07:29:11 AM
Took a long weekend this last Fri-Mon and went out to Mt Home to bag some deer meat. Was planning on shooting some axis or other exotic and pigs. Did not work out as planned but a good time any way.

Meat wise I got to clean out a freezer in prep for this years harvest. Opening weekend being this coming weekend.

The committee that runs where my friend lives did not want shooting last weekend.

We went to another ranch and did a lot powder burning in 50-70, 45-70, 45 ACP revovers ( 1917 S&W), 1911's, 45-70 contenders, 38 Spl S&W Airweights and such.
I was even able to ring gongs at 100 yards with the 38.:COOLdude:

Pictures to follow of some of the guns but not a lot of the range time as the land owner is somewhat reclusive about his location. That may have something to do with the proliferation of automatic weapons in air cooled, water cooled and smaller stuff. All legal.:cens:

Paul

For some reason I could not get this to attached to the PM so put it here for you, When I shortened the tubes it was still long enough for almost a double load as I wanted to be able to use them for several weapons and or charge weights.

In Memoriam / Don is gone
February 08, 2016, 09:37:58 AM
For those who knew Don Rinks, I just received a call from a paramedic in Trinity that they found Don dead this morning. Ms Vinnie's dimensia is not helping and they are in search of his relatives. Any one know his sisters name? I will have to get home before I can read the letter he left me for this event.
