Can you wash arrows?

Some one I hunt with asked me this last night while shooting. Once and a  while we miss the target and have a wood pile behind our blocks. The  arrows will get dirt on out arrows can you wash them off,or will this  compromize the arrow.

Yes, wash them if you want to. Even wooden arrows should be 'sealed', and certainly carbon and aluminum arrows are unaffected by "washing".
