THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Make Certain
January 02, 2008, 02:53:44 PM
The old year is fading away to the past and we are now in the present..yet the future is nigh unto us and we must look at the truth of what we were, what we are, and what we will be in the new year..
The apostle told the church at Phillipi,

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."   Phil.3:13-14 kjv.

we are living in a world where there is more false gospel preached than there is true gospel..we need to stand up and speak out about our Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ, how He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life was crucified and buried and rose on the third day and soon ascended into heaven where He is waiting for God the Father to send him after his bride.. that's the true gospel! oh yes , He is coming again, are you ready to meet Him?

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".
John 3:16

that's plain enough for me..

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / I Believe
December 12, 2007, 07:48:48 AM
I believe -. . . That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other and just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe - That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I believe - That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe - That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe - That you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I believe - That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe - That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe - That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe - That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe - That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe - . That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe - That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe - That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I believe - That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe - That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe - That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them. And less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe - That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe - That no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I believe - That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe - That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life. .. Forever.

I believe - Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe - That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe - That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you will find the strength to help.

I believe - That credentials on the wall do not make y ou a decent human being.

I believe - That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Tho't and Verse

A great part of your prayer work should be imploring the Almighty for a greater measure of his Spirit.

 "Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed."
Psalm 119:80

man cannot make a worm, yet he will make gods by the dozen.

He who gave his image to us must of necessity wish to see his image in us.

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31-32

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / When the Sun Sets
December 10, 2007, 02:19:44 PM
9 Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
10 For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
11 Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
12 O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
13 Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
15 My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
18 Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. Psalm 71:9-18 KJV..
As most of you know i will be 79 next Apr.30 and as i look back to my young days, it was wonderul to be young, with good eyesight, good hearing, and a quick step.. but ya know old age has blessings that youth don't know..a nd what a blessing it would be if it ends brightly at evening time..i have said this beforebut it is how i feel about leaving this old world..have you noticed that in the evening time just before sundown, the sky will brighten up for a short time and then night fall..Zechariah says,"At evening time it shall happen that it will be light." it is like the sun is saying take a good look and remember how bright i shine and i will be shining tomorrow as well..when i reach the sundown in my life that's what i want to happen..i want people to remember that maybe i was a bright spot in someone's life and they will have a warm afterglow in their heart if they think of me..I believe youth does the sowing and old age enjots the harvest.. but you know it's what we saw whether we enjoy the harvest or not..i have noticed in my garden if i do not sow the right seed and take care of it, it will dry up and wither and yes even turn sour..the harvest of old age is like that, it will either dry up and wither or like my navel oranges, it will grow sweeter as it ripens..We can't escape getting old.. youth stays around long enough to strengthen us for the burdens and the storms of life that are to come..and dear friends, the storms will come.. but ya know the best things are the oldest things, those that have endured the test of time
so don't be ashamed to admit you are getting old..remember everything that God made must become old, mountains, stars, rivers, oceans and man..But dearly beloved, the evening time of life can be bright only if we have the Son as our evening light..nothing is sadder that an old man facing eternity without Jesus..and nothing is sweeter than an ole codger like me still growing and resting in Christ..that's why at 77 i can face God's tomorrow with confidence..

Beyond The Sunset
Have a great day tomorrow and tell someone about Jesus..
                       Beyond The Sunset
Should you go first and I remain to walk the road alone
I'll live in memory's garden dear with happy days we've known
In spring I'll wait for roses red when fade with lilac's blue
And in early fall when the brown leaves fall I'll catch a glimpse of you
Should you go first and I remain for battles to be fought
Each thing you touched along the way will be a calloused spot
I hear you boys I see your smile though blindly I may grow
The mem'ry of your helping hand will boil me on the thought
Beyond the sunset oh blisful morning when with our Saviour heaven is begun
Earth stroll is ending oh glory dawning beyond the sunset when day is done
Should you go first and I remain to finish with the scroll
No lenghtenin' shadows shall creep in to make this life seem droll
We've known so much of happiness we've had our cup of joy
And mem'ry is one gift of God that death cannot destroy
I want you to know each step you take that I may walk the same
For someday down that lonely road you'll hear me call your name
Should you go first and I remain one thing I'll have you do
Walk slowly down that long long path for soon I'll follow you
In that fair homeland we'll know no parting beyond the sunset for evermore

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / The Old Paths
November 30, 2007, 05:27:02 AM
I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.

Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.

Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.

People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded h elpful ;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!

Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.

Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Be ing a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.

God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
And the Holy Spirit was respected..

Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course,
Or  being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the old paths the best!

'The Old Paths' was written by a retired minister who lives
In Tennessee.
