THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Be a Friend
February 10, 2008, 08:17:55 PM
Have you ever heard this song?

This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Dont give up until you drink from the silver cup
And ride that highway in the sky

This is for all the single people
Thinking that love has left them dry
Dont give up until you drink from the silver cup
You never know until you try

Well, Im on my way
Yes, Im back to stay
Well, Im on my way back home

This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Dont give up until you drink from the silver cup
And never take you down or never give you up
You never know until you try

You know there are a lot of lonely people out there.I used to go to nursing homes on visitation and as i would go in elderly women and men in wheelchairs would reach out to me and many a time they would say, "Oh i'm so glad you came to see me,i'm so lonely" It would break my heart..there are some who could be in a crowded room and still be lonely. all they need is a friend to love them.. my friends we as Christians should never be lonely again and our life can be meaningful and full of joy..remember, Jesus promised to never leave us or forsake us and yes, He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. He speaks to us through his Word and we talk to him in our prayers..that's what the lonely people need, a relationship with Jesus and need to know the love of Christ..I want to encourage you to walk and talk with Jesus, showing yourself friendly to the lonely around you and telling them about Jesus who wants to be their friend..

Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why
The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver's skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered"    Rom.8:26 KJV.

Tithing is an issue that many Christians struggle with. In many churches tithing is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the Biblical reasons in regards to making offerings to the Lord. Tithing / giving is intended to be a joy, a blessing. Sadly, that is rarely the case in the church today.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were to give 10% of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle / Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). . The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul says that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church..
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come." 1 Corin. 16:12 kjv.

The New Testament nowhere assigns a certain percentage of income to set aside, but only says it is to be "in keeping with his income" The Christian church has taken the 10% figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a "recommended minimum" for Christians in their giving. Although the New Testament does not identify a certain amount or percentage to give, it does talk about the importance and benefits of giving. They should give as they are able, "in keeping with his income." Sometimes that means giving more than a tithe. I read once where a man gave 90% of his income to the church..sometime that may mean giving less than a tithe. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the church. Each and every Christian should diligently pray and seek God's wisdom as to whether to participate in tithing and/or for how much he or she should give . "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" 2 Corinthians 9:7
according to the Word of God we are to give our tithes and offerings to the church..after all the bills have to be paid and yeh, the preacher and his family have bills also..

Because Christ was God, did he pass unscorched through the fires of Gethsemane and Calvary?  Rather let us say, because Christ was God he underwent a suffering that was absolutely infinite.

"It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.  I love to do God's will so far as my new nature is concerned; but there is something else deep within me, in my lower nature, that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.  In my mind I want to be God's willing servant but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin.  So you see how it is: my new life tells me to do right, but the old nature that is still inside me loves to sin.  Oh, what a terrible predicament I'm in!  Who will free me from my slavery to this deadly lower nature?  Thank God!  It has been done by Jesus Christ our Lord.  He has set me free."     Romans 7:21-25

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Never Quit
February 04, 2008, 02:59:46 PM
A boyhood friend of Andrew Jackson was quoted as saying, "I would throw Andrew nine times out of ten, but he wouldn't stay throwed"..in other words he would not quit..so as we serve the lord Jesus we must never quit"..
Trials may assail us, enemies may attack us, and the storms of life may gather, but as Winston Churchil once said,"never, never, never quit".the apostle Paul finished his race, he never quit..
There is a picture of an egret ttrying to swallow a frog..the frog's head is in the bird's mouth but his front legs are choking the bird's neck..the frog wouldn't quit..have you ever wante to quit?  i know i have and i'll tell you of one time i did quit on the Lord and every thing went sour in my life..Betty, my wife and i began to argue an fuss , my business went downhill, my health was affected and everything seemed to go wrong until i came back to Jesus and then everything started getting better..now we been married 57 years and we are still in love and i give God all the glory..
Our Lord and Saviour never quit and we are to be like him..we will be able to go on when we depend on tthe Lord Jesus and never quit..

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Rules Flr Daily Living
February 04, 2008, 05:10:34 AM
BASIC RULES FOR DAILY LIVING
 1.  Take twenty minutes by yourself at the beginning of each day.
2.  Live above small troubles by losing yourself in big, worthwhile interests.
3.  Grow every day; life is a game; keep your eye on the ball, rather than on the scoreboard.
4.  Have power to see things through; keep remembering that most accomplishments are three-fourths drudgery, and one-fourth joy.
5.  Alternate your interests.  It is better to be busy than bored.  Balance your life with work, play, love, and worship.
6.  Be gracious to others; do kind deeds beyond the call of duty; remember that every person is fighting a battle.
7.  Talk over your problems with others- with confiding friends, your doctor of medicine, your minister, your God.
8.  Work and co-operate with God, praying that God will do something through you rather than for you
Thomas Kepler

The Lord bless you and keep you:
The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you:
"The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace."
Numbers 6:24-26

I take nothing for granted.  I now have only good days or great days.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Our Walk With God
February 03, 2008, 08:35:30 AM
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
19 As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
20 **** and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
21 As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him. Proverbs 27:17-22 kjv.

Our walk with God should be one of constant growth. It should be steady in understanding and applying the truths that God has for us. In verse 19, all too often we only see the outside of ourselves and not really what is inside.this comes out when unexpected things come across our paths. like when the Doctor tells you, you have cancer or your business went under..and my friends the storms of life will come..many times in my 78 years things have happened that i didn't think i could handle but God always made a way..remember what he said in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." what will be revealed in your life and mine as the things of life come at us unexpected? will we honor God with our actions or will be hang our head in shame? It would be great if we could every time respond in a manner that shows we are different. we will have failures, but if they are in the majority, then there is something wrong in our walk. instead of asking why God does this happen to me, we should ask, what God can i do to honor you..amen..we are told through the Scriptures that we who are children of God have the power of the Spirit of God to help us and to respond correctly. If we are missing the the leading of the Spirit of God, we need to address this by confession, reading of the Word. too many times we try and change the meaning of God's Word to fit our likings.. we need to do what will honor God in our actions. all too we try to follow the worlds leading and we get into all kinds of trouble so allow the Spirit of God to open the eyes of our heart to know that path He has for us and we will have that peace passes all understanding as we walk where God is leading us."Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path".

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE / Tho't and Verse
February 01, 2008, 06:12:49 AM
A stone thrown into a pond creates waves which are practically imperceptible before they reach the shore.  A shout thrown into the air re-echoes for a few moments, then dies away forever.  But the life of Jesus, sacrificially thrown into the lives of His disciples, kindled there a new life that has never died away.

"And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. "    Isaiah 54:13

Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
