Here are a couple of addys. I haven't used the first one and know neither the availability of the cases nor the reliability of the seller.

Be nicer than necessary.

I haven't fooled around with these old straight cartridges in years but when I was, I got brass from Dixie Gun Works. The last catalog I got from them in 1995 listed drawn basic cases for .577, .500 Nitro, .50 Sharps, .45 basic, Mauser "A", .375 Mag. flanged, and .405 Win. All these basic cases are 3.250 long. The .45 basic cases I bought from them were made by RCBS. I'm not sure RCBS makes brass any more. I made up a .45-120-3.250 on a Winchester Hi Wall action and didn't like using black powder and switched to smokeless and 500 gr. cast bullets with gas checks and 350 gr. jacketed bullets. With 100 grs. H4895 and 350 gr. jacketed bullets the recoil was so severe some of my grandchildren were born with brain damage. I pulled the barrel and rebarrelled with the 45/70. I don't need that kind of recoil...........Paul H

Brass for the 50-140 is still an issue.  I have been able to find s bits in pieces but nothing in bulk.

I did however just purchase 100 RCBS cases of 45-120 and the dies for $100.00 from a feller who was tired of being abused by his Sharps.:D

Its nice brass basic 45, but I had to anneal it twice to soften it up enough to size.

I'm in the regulating process for this (double sharps) gun now, and the load is a whopper!  80 Grains of RL 15 shooting a 480 grain Woodleigh at 2050FPS.  The fellow who is buying it is going to Africa for Cape Buffalo and needs the knockdown.  It gives a me a headache when I shoot it!

Thanks,
Colorado
