FIREARMS & OPTICS / 8mm MUTT
May 17, 2009, 04:03:06 PM
Here is a 8mm Mauser i picked up in a pawn shop a couple of weeks back. It is a '38 Turk, built in 1945. I gave a whole $85.00 for it. The fellow i bought it from said it just would'nt shoot right anymore. He should have checked the scope out, as it was broken.I told Kombi a couple of weeks back i would post it, So here it is Mate.

FIREARMS & OPTICS / Range Report for the H.A.W.
April 26, 2009, 01:59:50 PM
I said earlier that this thing liked the loads that my Mauser did'nt. I had approx. 80-100 .308 Win loads stored away in an ammo can and decided i would use them to sight it in , then work up a load for it later. Little did i know it would like these so well. Range was only 50 yds, but that is good enough for what i will use this for.

FIREARMS & OPTICS / .500 S&W Raging Bull Extinct?
April 19, 2009, 03:57:02 PM
I have a good friend that was looking to buy a Raging Bull chambered in the .500 S&W mag. He has looked high and low for one and has'nt had any luck. He is wanting a new one, so looking on Taurus web site , they are no longer in production. Anybody want to take a guess on why that would be? I have'nt had a reply from the Taurus people.:end:

THE CAMPFIRE / Im back
July 07, 2007, 05:36:17 PM
Maybe some of you noticed i have been MIA for a while. My father had been in declining health during the spring and recently passed away. His care, plus my job as well as taking care of both his place and mine did'nt leave me much free time. Anyway I have missed y'all and look foreward to visiting again. Bow season won't be the same this year.

OKay Gang, I have added a .270 to the fold. I still have'nt shot up all my factory stuff yet. So my question is to the reloaders out there. What Secret Recipies have worked for you in this cartridge?

ELK HUNTING / Newbie to the Elk Scene
July 17, 2006, 03:42:11 PM
I have put in for an Arizona Elk tag this year. If I am lucky enough to get drawn, I plan on taking two different rifles with me. A m-71 Win. in .348 and  a Ruger #1 in 7mm Rem Mag.  As this will be my first trip, I am in need of some suggestions of what other gear i may need. The trip will be with family who already live in AZ, but the trip is supposed to be in the N. end of the state. I would welcome any advice. Thax, Dan

RELOADING / Another 6.5 Fan I Am
July 17, 2006, 10:48:08 AM
I have a little 6.5x55 Swed. Mauser That has recently taken over as my "truck gun." I have had trouble with it trying to find the load it liked. A friend recommended trying out some H-414 and it was just what it needed. The rifle has a very tight chamber , But a dose of 41.5 gn of H-414 behind a Hornady 129 gn SST has proudeced some very nice 5 shot groups @ 100 yd. What's even better is that by cutting the charge back by 1 gn, My 140gn Siearra's are producing some really nice groups also.  If any of y'al out there have a 6.5 Swed that a'int acting right , try a little H-414. I don't know what the veloicity of these two loads are, The barrell on mty rifle is 18.5 in. so i don't forsee any screamers here .
